SHENGLIN CDUs: 350–1500kW Liquid Cooling Distribution

Date:2026-11-04

What a CDU Does

Coolant distribution unit (CDU) is the hydraulic and control hub of a liquid cooling architecture. On the secondary side, coolant absorbs heat from IT equipment; on the primary side, that heat is transferred to an external cooling system — chilled water, a natural cold source or a dry cooler. The CDU sits between the two loops, keeping IT equipment within a safe operating temperature range. SHENGLIN supplies centralized CDUs rated from 350 to 1500kW, built for high density clusters and mission-critical environments.

Control Precision to ±0.5°C

A 10 inch color touch screen provides multi level permission control. The intelligent liquid cooling system monitors temperature, pressure, flow and water quality, with anti-condensation control included — temperature control 0accuracy reaches ±0.5°C, the stability that high density compute requires.

Efficiency Designed Into the Loop

Efficiency comes from several engineering choices. Plate heat exchangers deliver high heat transfer efficiency, while high efficiency variable frequency pumps operate under N+1 redundancy. The unit supports high temperature difference operation, which reduces flow rates and pumping energy. Notably, the CDU uses no fans — a quiet, low variance design that removes a whole category of mechanical wear from the loop.

Compatibility and Reliability

The unit accepts deionized water, ethylene glycol and propylene glycol solutions, and works seamlessly with copper and aluminum (3 series and 6 series) liquid cooling plates. Corrosion resistant pipe fittings meet 304 stainless steel or better, with filtration accuracy of 25–100μm. Standard RS485 communication provides comprehensive detection, alarm and protection functions; set parameters are automatically protected, and operating data and alarm records survive power failures. Standard and customized monitoring protocols are available, sensors and filters support online maintenance, and dual power supply can be specified.

The place of CDU application

1. Large data centers and supercomputing centers: high density cabinet clusters and green data centers, with cooling capacity up to 1500kW, plus retrofits that integrate with existing chilled water systems.
2. Industry and energy: power electronic equipment and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
3. Energy efficiency optimization: cooling typically accounts for the largest share of data center operating cost; centralized CDUs improve the overall energy efficiency ratio by optimizing cooling pathways and cutting unnecessary energy use.
